Mornington Yacht Club (MYC) is directly adjacent to parks and foreshore areas used extensively by the public. It is therefore essential that we abide by the strict EPA regulations controlling air and water pollution. Rising Victoria Sailing star and MYC member Nick Sharman has been offered a place in the upcoming Club VIODA / YV Scholarship programme. This is great initiative that will support past Opti sailors, and current Opti instructors, in their personal development and enable them to give back to a class they have proven commitment to. The purpose of the Scholarship is to offer the opportunity to become a Qualified Yachting Australia Club Coach. QUALIFICATIONS: • Yachting Australia Club Coaches Qualification • Powerboat Handling / Safety Boat Qualification (if not already held) • Senior First Aid Certificate (if not already held) OBLIGATIONS: • SUPPORT VIODA and YV coaching needs as a priority, this is in particular around major VIODA/YV events. • SUPPORT MYC in their club activities to assist in developing their Optimist fleet in size and quality Celebrations are being planned for 2016 to commemorate the founding of the Mornington Yacht Club in February 1946.
To kick off our year of celebrations, there will be a 'BACK TO MORNINGTON YACHT CLUB WEEKEND" on Saturday 20th February & Sunday 21st February, 2016, when our club will be open to the community & the public. The Historical Committee has prepared a large exhibition of photographs & memorabilia. A DVD has been made portraying a collection of old & new movies & photos which have been supplied to us by members & the media. The Mornington Peninsula Shire Council and the Mornington Historical Society have provided further photographs and information. Commemorative items will be available for purchase. Complimentary Tea, Coffee & Scones will be available on both days between 2pm & 4pm. Come along and get together with your sailing comrades and families - the bar will be open!! Approximately 50 boat owners were in attendance. A copy of the presentation is attached and notes as follows: Slipway - John Underwood MYC 100% committed to slipway and the matter is a club issue . The tonnage capacity was to be reassessed and certified once fixed. $100000 minimum s expected to be paid in next 3 years. Noted a travel lift and yard is planned at Martha Cove. Yard - Graeme Alexander Members must comply to the MYC OH&S Rules. Company : Australian Ports and Marinas inspected Yard and infrastructure and quoting on design options for future use and better utilisation of yard. Cradles - better options in terms of not requiring traverse pits and rails spoken about. Day Pass - Rod Austin Accepted to proceed with the proposed new Day Pass System as presented.
