We have been notified from Australian Sailing of the following:
Louise Atwood, Acting Director for sport, recreation, and Racing COVID-19 response, has confirmed the following. Recreational fishing and boating (including sailing) are permitted as long as the activity doesn’t require the use of a facility and is within 5km of home. This means that: • members must use their own equipment but are not permitted to access a facility to retrieve equipment (a facility includes sheds, enclosed yards, and private marinas, maintained for the purpose of providing active or passive recreation) • the exercise is limited to yourself and just one other person, plus dependants if they can’t be left at home • the exercise must take place between 5 am and 9 pm • face masks must be worn at all times outdoors and indoors (not at home) unless an exception applies. This lockdown intends to restrict unnecessary movement to prevent the spread of the virus. Further information can be found https://www.coronavirus.vic.gov.au/coronavirus-covidsafe-settings We will continue to work with the Department to provide the latest information around the restrictions for our clubs and gain further clarification where required. Thank you, Meaghan Densley Regional Manager Australian Sailing Thank you to those who have made a donation to the MYC Foundation when paying your subscriptions to the Club.
Donations made to the Mornington Yacht Club account via the Australian Sports foundation are tax deductible. If you would like to donate in this way click here The Foundation continues to assist the Club by providing funds to projects that cannot be funded through your subscriptions. In the twelve months to June the Foundation provided $13,636 to purchase Opti’s for the successful Trysail introductory sailing classes for potential new members. In addition we are contributing $11,500 towards the cost of a new Rhib for sail training and rescue purposes. We appreciate the difficult and disruptive times that we are in, but we are looking forward to the future when we can all again participate in Club activities.
