Please donate what you can to assist us achieving our objectives, Many Thanks, Stuart Gooley There was some confusion amongst competitors during Saturday’s Aggregate race and also, incorrect results were awarded for the race which was shortened from the Tower at the S Mark. The situation has now been looked at by members of the Race Committee. Stephen Bolton addressed a similar shortened course issue in 2017 and what Steve wrote then is still correct today. Note that the following 'Golden Rule' speaks of the Tower, but the same applies with any Committee vessel flying the S Flag. "The Golden Rule for course shortened by the Tower at S Mark; Always sail between the Tower displaying code flag and Board S and the “S” mark from the direction of the last mark (from the course side)- no matter which mark you’re coming from and no matter what hand course you are sailing.” As such, to Finish correctly in Saturday's race, boats had to sail between the Tower and S mark leaving S mark to Port. Results for this race were incorrectly given on Saturday and will be corrected this morning. Click here to read Steve Bolton's explanatory document discussing the behavior of Code Flag S adjacent to a rounding Mark. We hope this clears up any confusion. The Race Committee. For those of you that like to sleep, you may not be aware that the Marlay Point Overnight Race (MPOR) was held on 12/13 March 2022. The race has been running on the Gippsland lakes since 1969 and regularly attracts fleets of over 100 boats. Unlike many events the MPOR has managed to safely continue uninterrupted during the past 2 years of COVID difficulties, quite a triumph.
Once again, several MYC trailable boats made the trip to the lakes. Conditions during the race were light and cold and tested the patience and stamina of competitors. MYC boats continue to punch above their weight with Zip skippered by Tim Donnellan picking up first place in the highly competitive Division D. Fake News skippered by Graeme Alexander finished 5th. In Division C Moonshadow skippered by Scott Robinson finished a highly creditable 17th. Special mention to ex. MYC boat Pipalini and skipper Mitch Bayliss finishing 2nd. Congratulations to all MYC boats and crews, enjoy a well-earned rest. As usual the memories of fatigue, cold and frustration will pass over the next 12 months and be replaced by happy reminiscences, leading ultimately to entering the 2023 MPON. Thank you, Tim O'Grady Trailable Class Captain In conjunction with the Foundation Business Lunch being held on Friday 25th of March we will be holding a Live Auction conducted by Nicholas Lynch Real Estate.
