MYC With a number for club changes occurring this year the office will now be taking a more active role in the operational management of the yard.
MYC Member Pete de Lange has now departed the shed and sub contractor Richard McDonald of Mornington Marine has been permitted to use the shed. Pete's expertise as a shipwright will still be valued and is always welcome to continue his good work.
The association with Richard has to be mutually beneficial for it to proceed and I do hope he does obtain the support of the members. His phone number is 0431 110 933. I have given permission for Richard to clean up and move boats within the yard if required to improve efficiency, Richard's experience within the boating industry is amazing and I hope you all have a chance to catch up and welcome him soon.
Slipping - Keith will mentor Richard in this role and the aim is to increase the utilization of the he slipway now that the upgrade is close to completion.
MYC Member Wayne Larder, a professional in risk management is assisting Richard and I with identifying OH&S risks in the yard. All issues will be addressed over Winter and yard rules to be updated. I expect the new rules will commence in the next few months and prominently on display in the yard
MYC Member Cam Mackenzie has generously provided new software to control all our Club maintenance issues and this will allow the club to administer maintenance in a far more professional manner.
Finally the huge respect that Keith Ross has at the club I would hope he continues to be the nominated committee representative overseeing the yard and again sincerely do hope the Thursday Action Group (TAG) continue doing their fantastic work maintaining the grounds, buildings and yard as usual.
