With 7-9 minutes from start to finish of each race, multiple and frequent lead changes this format of sailing is highly appealing to young adults. All teams competing this weekend required 6 sailors to fill the 3 pacers, with every single team having 2 or more 18-35 year olds in their team, sailors who are rarely seen competing anymore in Victorian sailing. Among the vast number of young adults and youth involved in this event we had 14 members of Team MYC across 3 teams. This included the oldest and youngest participants in Jacko and Henri Levenspiel, not to mention team Spuds which included 6 MYC members, who won the youth division.
We would like to thank Ranelagh for the use of their pacers for the event and SSCBC for the provision of the desired umpire RIBs and we look forward to working with these clubs in the future to grow the teams racing on offer in Victoria next season.
Mornington is looking to continue it’s involvement in teams racing next season and we encourage anyone who’d like to get involved or watch it to keep an eye out in the tattler closer to next season!
Thank you to all our volunteers across the weekend, you all did an amazing job and created the perfect relaxed but competitive atmosphere this event desires.
