The team had some outstanding results with Henry Levenspiel first through the finish line in every race, winning the Optimist Intermediate fleet. We had 4 other Optis out on the water enjoying the great fun, learning conditions.
In the 29’er fleet Zac Hayes and his crew came away with third in the 27 boat fleet, an outstanding effort in tough conditions.
Our 3 Lasers represented the club well with Daniel Laverty performance a standout in the 4.7 coming away midfleet.
Last but not least with our biggest representation in the 420 class we had 7 boats making up almost half fleet. Digby & Jay managed to go through 2 spinnaker poles, and always had the biggest smiles. James and Lachie Caldwell came away with 2nd thanks to the great team MYC effort for rigging up a brand new mast in under 20 minutes, a task that would usually take 2 hours. The boys made the start by just 5 minutes after a very quick tow to the start line. The team MYC spirit that’s continuously displayed around the country makes everyone proud. We look forward to seeing Team MYC up at Sail Sandy next weekend before the official opening of the season on the 20th of October. By Opening Day this group will have competed in 3 regattas for the season already.
