Simple things like getting to the start line often seem easy, but things don’t always work that way. A tricky easterly wind and a damaged outboard sadly ended Beau Brummell’s race day before they left the dock and Obsessions uncooperative mainsail made for a quick dash to the start line.
A fleet of 12 boats in divisions 1,2 &3 got under way in a perfect easterly flow under sunny skies. It was great to see code flag Romeo back to its normal size. Course 15 was set, and I suspect had all crews searching for the course sheet. Who knew there was a course 15, let alone where we would be heading!
A short beat to the start line sorted out the order with Obsession leading the fleet around the top mark. It was close finish in Division 1 with a 12 second margin over the line between Obsession and Morticia and close also in Division 3 with Dark Side of the Moon heading Mixed Nuts across the line. A shifty and variable wind made for interesting racing on the day, but with such beautiful weather sailing has to be the real winner.
