With the 50th anniversary of the Marlay Point Overnight Race being celebrated this year, there were 240 entrants on the start line for the annual race to Paynesville for trailable yachts. A big MYC contingent of 12 boats made the trip. The race was sailed in very light winds and as usual was a test of skill, patience and endurance, with many boats taking over 16 hours to complete the course. Some great results with Pipalini (Mitch Baylis) and Scratch (David Eickmeyer) taking handicap honours in division C and division D respectively. Phil Mannes proved as wily as usual finishing 2nd across the line in division A .
Well done to everyone including Endless Advice, Beau Brummell, Himalayan Woman, Mixed Nuts, Messin About, Seaspray, Fake News, Heaven Can Wait and Pippin. Anyone that competes in a Marlay Point knows what a great experience it is. As usual many of us have already said “never again”, but for some reason we keep going back.........Tim O"Grady
