We would like to thank the club and its members for all the support we received last week when our boat “Licence to Chill” was washed up on Shire Hall Beach. We would like to thank everybody for their kind messages and the time they gave up to be with us but would like to particularly thank Sheryl Schumacher, Chris Jackson and Rod Austin for being there from first light on Tuesday morning and providing us with practical and moral support during those first hours of our ordeal.
We had been concerned about the safety of our boat, in its exposed position, when the northerlies started on the previous weekend and had tried to get on her to move her to Martha Cove for better protection but it was too dangerous, so we could only monitor the weather and pray that we would escape unscathed. Unfortunately that was not to be, and we got the call 7am Tuesday morning confirming our worst fears, our boat was on the beach.
For the next two days we had to endure the general public, who seemed to be revelling in our misfortune, until she was lifted onto a truck, where she remained for another day until finally moved to Carrum Downs for assessment in the early hours of Friday morning. We are now waiting to hear if she will be written off or repaired. Let’s hope we get some luck and the insurers decide on the later and we can once again “chill on the chill”.
Kind regards,
Jeff and Sheila Young
