However the club rooms are now open & we can now go down for a quiet drink, without the need of a sit down meal. There are maximum number limits for each area on every door. Please respect them. We live in a “fishbowl” at the Club, we are always “on show”.
I miss seeing your faces and enjoying the unique camaraderie our club has to offer,
However, behind the scenes your Board and Sub Committees have been working extremely hard on planning for next season. Things have been happening.
The Finance Committee, with the backing of the Board have managed to re-negotiate the Clubs’ finances with the CBA. We are grateful for their combined expertise.
The Sailing Committee have nearly finalised our calendar for 2020-2021. Some interesting changes, “watch this space”.
Special thanks to Sarah and Tayla, their support to the Board during these unusual times has been fantastic.
Our new membership fees have been sent out and I am pleased with the response.
Laurie and the Thursday team are keeping the yard in shape and working on their winter projects. Lick of paint here some new shelves there and the big one…. A refurbished yard trailer for Retriever.
On the water our OTB sailors have been training regularly, keeping their skills and fitness up. We have a group of sailors heading to the NSW 420’s. We wish them luck.
By now you will have seen the news on the introduction of our new Junior and Youth Sailing Program. The Training and Development Committee have researched a new program that compliments the traditional “Tackers” program. Developed in Western Australia with an emphasis on keeping kids and their families in the sport. It is an exciting development and I am pleased to say the board supported the idea unanimously.
Unfortunately, too many parents saw the “Tackers” program as a baby-sitting service and the kids did not progress past the Tackers courses. Our new program is aimed at addressing this introducing new families into our Club. Like all things new there is a slight catch. We need some more Plastic (Rainbow) Opti’s to make this new program run efficiently. The Club Foundation has launched an appeal to raise the money. You can join me in donating to help get this off the ground. It is tax deductable through the Australian Sports Foundation.
Get in before the end of the financial year, I urge all members to get behind this program, getting new kids into our sport is the future.
Congratulations to Sophie Jackson and the T & D team for driving this.
Let’s hope we are not too far from normal, whatever normal will be.
