The past week has been terrific around the Club. The Sailability function last Wednesday supported by the Rocks demonstrated our sincere appreciation for the contribution our volunteers make enabling disabled people to sail as well as the financial contribution Sailability provides with help funding the new lift and downstairs Club renovations. Congratulations to Krista Bailey being awarded the Sailability Volunteer of the year.
The Ronstan Band kept us entertained for the final twilight sail of the year and once again several people commented on the tasty meal options put on by the Rocks.
The Schools competition over three days of the weekend provided the large number of competitors and their supporters with a superb demonstration of the professional and friendly atmosphere our Club hosts significant sailing events from our attractive vantage point on the Bay.
Teams racing is a unique regatta format, using two up Pacer boats, where two teams of three boats compete with each other to score the least points in a race. High levels of skill in teamwork, tactics and strategy are required to ensure minimum points in a race, as first out of six does not always gain the minimum points. Blocking, luffing and traps are common tactics deployed to support your team against the opposition. MYC members were represented amongst a number of the schools competing and acquitted themselves very well. The work put in by all our volunteers in preparing, running and quickly tidying up from such a major event was fantastic. Well done.

This week we will be laying new rails in preparation for slipping. The dredge is making good progress as it inches it’s way towards our slipway and ramp. Also this week the Future Development Subcommittee will be holding its first consultation meeting with Parks Victoria concerning the replacement of Fishermans Jetty.
Best of luck to our golfers on Thursday retaining the Victory Cup. Blairgowrie, Sandringham and Royal Melbourne have assembled some stiff competition.
