The History of the Mornington Yacht Club will be officially launched at the clubs 72nd Opening party on Friday 20 October. This publication is a must for all past and present members, as well as for members of the public interested in yachting in the Mornington area. The book of some 300 pages covers the history of the Club from its foundation in 1946 until the 2016 sailing season. In addition there is an introductory section covering the period from the 1880's until the Second World War when the classic yachts from the City clubs visited Mornington frequently for Regatta's.
The Club over its 70 year history has seen members win world, Australian and State Championships as well as major ocean races both in Australia and overseas. The book records these events as well as our local Club Championships. There are over 800 individual names recorded in the index.
