“It was an incredible event we’ve had so much fun and learnt more than we could put into a post. We’re extremely grateful for the clubs generous support and would like to thank everyone that’s got us here. It’s been an opportunity that we’ve loved every minute of. We had a score card that we felt didn’t reflect our moments of glory, we lead in places and rounded marks in first position time and time again. With little things letting us down, we’re already looking ahead to see what’s next. Sailing in this format has been invaluable in our development as sailors and has complemented our individual Olympic ambitions and campaigns. We’re feeling extremely privileged to represent our wonderful club on the world stage and can’t wait to do it again in the future.
“We arrived In Travemunde to a cultural experience with the beautiful port side coastal town welcoming us with warm breezes and a wonderful atmosphere coupled with terrific architecture filling us with excitement for the first day of racing.”
“The first day was due to missed trains in Germany together with injury, bad weather & Covid in AUS as well as individual summer & European sailing campaigns also our first day as a team on the J70. Embarrassingly we didn’t realise the start gun had gone in the first race but we weren’t the only ones half the fleet weren’t on the line. See the photo reference 🤪. At least we’d pulled the kite up and down, gybed the boat and tacked, we were ready ! Quickly the jib was unfurled and off to it we made the top mark in a acceptable 6th and crossed line after a sneaky goose winged spinnaker as pictured in a respectable 6th.
We hope you enjoyed our recap on what was 4 days of sailing we won't forget.
Yours in Sailing,
Warm Regards,
James, Lily, Matilda & Jack."
