What a winter, it's been cold and long, but not at MYC! We managed to run all our winter series races even if that meant just getting out on the water as there always seemed to be a lack of wind on these days! What a great turn out of members new & old in Fifteens, Laser's and 420's. We managed to renovate the office & start Rod in his new position. Rod has been a tremendous help in negotiating with all the numerous organisations MYC has to do on a daily basis such as Parks Victoria, Mornington Peninsula Shire Council and neighbouring clubs as well as yacht clubs. Rod has been sorting out the harbour mooring grid, securing our lease and firming relationships for ongoing participation with Safety Beach Sailing Club, new sponsors and new membership initiatives. It’s been a delight to see the new office working so well and our staff being able to keep on top of the workload. The demeanor around the club that I have witnessed over the winter period and has put us in for a sound footing for the season ahead. Our history committee has been very busy researching archives and inviting founding members to tell their stories which will all be displayed throughout the season. The yard has been changed over, the marks are back in, Retriever and Sara have been repowered so after our season briefing this Thursday evening we will all be ready for a great season at MYC. I am looking forward to getting back out on the water and enjoying what we are all here for - The Sailing! Don't forget to contact the office an book your tickets for the Cocktail Party by Friday 16th Oct - it's about time we had a party! Here’s to a great 70th season at MYC! Graeme Alexander, Commodore |
