Learn the ropes, take to the seas and make new friendships!
Girls out sailing (GOS) Keelboat
The aim of GOS is to provide a program accessible to woman encapsulating all areas of our sport and leading to overall participation and involvement at MYC. The keelboat program consists of 4 sessions that progress our participants through the steps to becoming involved in a great sport and terrific club.
DATES:
Block A: Thursdays 29th October & 5th, 12th, 19th November (2026) - BOOK HERE!
Block B: Thursdays 26th, 3rd, 10th, 17th December (2026) - BOOK HERE!
Block C: Thursdays 4th, 11th, 18th & 25th February (2027) - BOOK HERE!
Block D: Thursdays 4th, 11th, 18th, 25th March (2027) - BOOK HERE!
TIME: 4:30pm start. Approx. 7:30pm finish.
PLACES AVAILABLE PER COURSE: 10
COST: $180
FORMAT:
4:30pm - arrive for a 15-minute theory session with a female coach
5:00pm to 7:15pm - groups of 1-2 will be allocated to a boat for the night and participate in the MYC Thursday Twilight Race. You'll experience what it's like sailing on different boats and the different aspects of sailing or jobs on the boat each night.
7.30pm onwards - Come back to the club for a drink and chat about the sail, and if you like stay for dinner.
Thursday nights are usually a hive of activity at MYC, with the Rocks restaurant providing a set menu through the MYC bar. Participants are provided with a free drink voucher each week.

Women's Keelboat Learn to Sail
The MYC Women's Keelboat Learn to Sail Course is an adaptation of Australian Sailing's 'Start Crewing' course, but run specifically for Women. This course introduces participants to the basics of sailing on keelboats, including boat handling, safety and sailing theory. Our young and enthusiastic instructors will ensure you get a welcoming and enjoyable experience, and finish your course feeling confident with the sailing basics!
These courses require a minimum of 3 and maximum of 5 participants, meaning you get personalised feedback and instruction, and the opportunity to connect with other women in sailing.
