OTB Classes

MYC supports all OTB dinghy classes, with our most common and coaching supported classes being the Optimist, 
420 and Laser.  We also have a brand new fleet of 6 pacers  for member use.

International Optimist Dinghy
The International Optimist Dinghy is a single handed junior class. Sailed in over 120 countries across the world the class caters for children aged 7-14 years old. At Mornington we have a strong fleet of optimist sailors ranging from those learning to sail in our Tackers programs through to kids in the Victorian and Australian teams. Mornington's coaching team have all come through the Optimist class with numerous coaches representing Australia overseas.

International 420 Dinghy
The international 420 is a two person youth and family class. It is sailed around the world and is one of the 2 classes sailed at the youth world championships. Mornington is proud to have many of our past junior sailors now sailing in our growing 420 fleet, which includes a range of abilities from club sailors through to Australian Youth World Championship representatives. Mornington is also proud to have members and coaches who have represented Australia at an international level in the past in the 420.

International Laser Class
The International Laser is a single handed class which caters for sailors form 14-85 years of age. The laser class is split into three sections based on the size of the different sails that can be used with the boat. 
Due to this the Laser is a popular class in Victoria and growing at Mornington. Currently we have youth sailors transitioning into the Laser 4.7 and adults sailing in both the Radial and Full Rig size sections. Mornington is proud to have past national champions and world championships representative in the Laser as members and in the coaching team.
