Brodie Riley who coaches at MYC was first Australian at Nationals, and was running second going into the last day at Worlds before an unfortunate black flag. A fantastic achievement from a great teacher, mentor, and role model for our youth. Must say the same about Rhett who’s lead up to Laser Worlds was sailing a completely different class, the Aero 7 winning that Worlds. Rhett came away with an equally impressive 13 at Lasers Radials. Then the two 15 year olds, Jack Eickmeyer and Lachie Weber, who previously sailed the 420 Dumb and Dumber together. While they did the Laser States last Feb they still were sailing the 420 until April and only got going regularly in the Laser over the last winter. They have had the most amazing summer racing the best in the world and learning so much to finish off Worlds in 24th and 35th place, or more significantly we are unofficially informed 2nd and 3rd Under 17.
