We’re excited to share some fantastic news with our members!
Earlier in the season, our Training & Development Committee ran a raffle during Open Day in October! Thanks to the wonderful support from our club community, we raised enough funds to significantly reduce the cost of our new Team MYC t-shirts by over 40%! These shirts are for sailors in our Junior & Youth Sailing Program, and their families, to proudly wear around the club and at regattas across the state and country. Our junior and youth sailors were invited to submit t-shirt designs and we received four fantastic entries from Kate, Annelise, Rose and Nathan. After a vote held within the junior and youth groups, Nathan’s design was selected as the winner! The shirts have now been ordered and will arrive next week, just in time for Nationals! A huge thank you to everyone who purchased raffle tickets. Your contribution directly benefits our young sailors and helps us continue building fun, engaging and affordable development opportunities for our families 💙 See the winning design and final product attached! 🎨✨👕 We're thrilled to welcome our very own MYC member Bruno and John for a fantastic night of entertainment at MYC. Bring your singing voices and dancing shoes for a fun-filled evening! FREE for MYC Members, guests just $10pp Friday 16 Jan'26 7.30pm-9.30pm BOOK HERE> Bar Snack Menu available on the night:

Entries Open for the Sayers & Co Schnapper Point Regatta 2026
Sail the Point your way this summer at Mornington Yacht Club Mornington Yacht Club (MYC) will host one of Port Phillip’s biggest junior and youth sailing weekends when the Sayers & Co Schnapper Point Regatta returns on 14-15 February 2026. Celebrating everything from first-ever start lines to championship-level pace, Schnapper Point brings a wide mix of sailors together — kids just finding their feet, teenagers and grandparents alike pushing themselves, and high-performance classes sending it down the course. Because at Mornington, everyone should be able to Sail the Point your way. “Schnapper Point is special because everyone gets to belong, whether you’re launching into your very first race or pushing for the top of the leaderboard. We want every sailor to feel supported, confident and excited to be out there learning, competing and having fun. That’s what Schnapper Point is all about.” ~ Melissa Warren, Sailing Manager, Mornington Yacht Club The 2026 regatta welcomes Optimists from Green to Open Fleet, ILCA 4/6/7, 420s, 29ers and a broad range of monohull fleets. Adding to the excitement, both the 2026 Musto Skiff Australian National Championships and the 2026 International B14 Victorian State Championship will be raced over the weekend as part of the regatta. Off the water, MYC turns into a lively regatta hub — music, food, sandy feet, gear drying on fences, and sailors trading stories over hot chips and choccy milkshakes on the deck. For new racers, the Green Fleet provides a safe and encouraging environment with short courses, close support and plenty of small wins that build confidence early. “We love watching young sailors find that spark — the moment they realise they can handle the course, make smart decisions and sail across the finish with a huge grin. This regatta builds confidence in a way that keeps them hooked on the sport for life.” ~ Will McKenzie, Head Coach, Mornington Yacht Club With reliable afternoon sea breezes and one of the most spectator-friendly waterfronts on the bay, Mornington is uniquely placed to deliver a top-tier racing and club experience. “Mornington has a long and proud history of hosting this regatta, and every year we’re thrilled to welcome sailors from across the state to experience our venue and our club culture. It’s a weekend that captures everything MYC stands for — family, friendship and great sailing.” ~ Andrew Parker, Commodore, Mornington Yacht Club Sailors can enter the regatta online via the Mornington Yacht Club website.
