Welcome to what we will try and make a regular kid update each week. This weekend a few kids are headed up to Sail Sandy, but as a warm up before Opening Day we are holding a Fun Race at MYC Sunday morning. Jacko and Reece should be still around, so can we please have an idea of who is coming to make sure of resources. Weather at the moment looks sunny, 22 with a light southerly Thank to all those who braved rat and bird poo to help clean out the Opti Shed. We still need to work out which Optis in there may not being sailed to make us much room as we can. We are planning more boat and sail racking to help. Sunday the 25th is Opening day. After the formal racing in the morning we would like the Optis to sail over to the inner harbour in front of the club during the speeches, have lunch and then join in on the sail past with all the other club boats Sail Country as mentioned previously is over the Cup “Long Weekend” at Albury Wodonga Yacht Club. Come and join the large MYC contingent for low key camping and sailing http://www.sailcountry.com/ Friday nights start the following Friday November 6th Let the fun begin, Andrew |
MANY MANY THANKS to: Keith Ross Trevor Neate Russ Kemp Graeme Vertigan Greg Martin David Beeson John Hart Max Wilson Bill Bennett Brodie Goozee Steve Bardsley PLUS many thanks to the few that showed up for the working bee and the Brett James crew that cleaned the Opti Shed, much appreciated. Great Job well done to the Pamela Lane, Maureen Sharman and her friend Sue, Tania Vertigan, Jenny Martin, Kate Johnson and Jane Storey who made breakfast and lunch for all at the BBQ. Summer in Europe sailing around the Baltic on your own new Hanse 575…Sounds like a dream…But that’s just what Phil and Cheryl Coombes did this year. A dream that Cheryl says was sparked by a chance meeting with Windcraft’s John Cowpe onboard a Hanse at the Sydney Boat Show. European pick up is easy with Windcraft. You can buy your yacht in Australia but pick it up in Germany and enjoy the extended evenings and balmy nights of the European summer. In Cheryl's words "For us the top three places would have to be the Swedish archipelago – because it is so Intricate and beautiful. The Alands islands were amazing because they were so unique. And the Fjords in Denmark. The service from Windcraft, from multiple people has been exceptional. So our experience has been far and above any other experience we have ever had. That’s with lots of different people over the years. Having someone there to meet us in a foreign country and then step us through the boat was awesome". Read the full story and see all the photos here New from the Hanse Yard, the Hanse 315 is a neat 31ft/9.62m yacht. The sleek and sporty lines are from the design team at Judel/Vrolijk A deep L-shaped 1.85m keel, plumb bow and waterline length of 8.7m mean that the dynamic lines will translate into liveliness on the water. The boat comes standard with a modern shaped tiller and cockpit floor traveller. Twin wheel steering is an option – something not seen in 31ft even two years ago! First 4 boats into Australia are offered with Free Navigation and Cruise Packs totalling a saving of $15,035. Base price is 185K and 200-220K will see someone in a highly specked boat. The Sailability team led by Graeme Lyall has started their Sailing Season. The groups from FOCUS and Yooralla Mornington Peninsula are so happy to be back on the water as it is their favourite activity. Today the water was clear, underwater sea life could be seen and many were sailing for their first time. The MYC volunteers are amazing and operate this service on Wednesdays and Fridays. If you are interested to help we always appreciative of an extra pair of hands.

Each of the seven races are alternatively held by five host clubs with Windward/ Leeward races (white series) and around the cans (blue series) scheduled for each session. The beauty of this series is that it accommodates both the White Series, for yachts in Division 0 – 3, and for the Blue Series, for yachts who love to race in a relaxed atmosphere. Already there are 50 boats entered in the White Series! All information about this event can be found online at www.clubmarineseries.com.au. Registration has never been easier: For members of a host club simply register via your Club’s season registration. If you are having any issues please contact one of the following people below. If you know anyone who would like to compete in the series but is not a member of a host club simply have them enter online by clicking here.
