J​oin us for the MYC Foundation's 2025 lunch on Friday the 28th of March with well-known yachtsman Matt Allen as our guest speaker!  This event is a highlight on the Club’s calendar, and this year's lunch will be no exception!

We'll let you know when bookings open, so be ready to reserve your spot as it sells out every year and spaces are limited.

Just like in previous years, we'll have live and silent auctions and a raffle to be drawn on the day.  Don't miss out!

The Rotary Club of Mornington is presenting a Comedy Night to raise funds for The Bays Hospital on Friday, 21st March, 2025 at The Alexandra Park Pavilion, in Mornington.  Good fun, entertainment and enjoyment will feature in abundance.    All details appear on the attached poster, but to summarise:

Doors Open at 6.30 pm
Drinks from the bar available at pub prices pre show, during the interval and post show
Show Starts at 7.30 pm, compered by a professional MC
3 - 4 comedians, presenting their material, one of whom will be a headline performer
1 hour comedy session, 30 minute interval, 1 hour comedy session
Tea/coffee and biscuits available at half time, and the bar will be open again to purchase drinks
Raffle tickets available for purchase on the night, pre show and during interval.

It's that time of the year again, our annual Schnapper Point Regatta is happening in a few weeks!

As usual th club runs mostly on the volunteering of our amazing members.

If you are available to volunteer or assist anyway we would be much appreciated.

We are looking for volunteers on water and for the BBQ.

King Island Race (Friday, 7 March)

Safety & Sea Survival Course – (Sunday, 2 March) 
The next in-person day is March 2nd.  Participants complete an interactive online component of the course before attending the in-person day.  If this date doesn’t work for your diary, reserve your place now for June 1, September 7 or November 30.

Rip Tour Port Phillip Heads (Sunday,16 March) 
You can read a book, diagrams and marine charts, but seeing it from the water with expert guidance is different.  The annual Rip Tour is a practical on-water training event where experienced offshore navigators share information on how and when to transit safely.  Everyone gets a headset so they don’t miss any commentary on navigation aids, tides, lead lights, shipping channels and a copy of the ORCV’s Rip Guide.  The 2025 tour departs Queenscliff at noon on Sunday, March 16.  For your convenience, you’ll be able to catch the connecting Searoad Ferry from Sorrento at 11 am.  Book your place for this unique learning experience:

​Congratulations to MYC Member Tim Kenner who was crewing on PP1 in the Cock of the Bay Race.  PP1 flew down the Port Phillip coastline to Mornington & smashed the Ronstan Cock of the Bay Race Record!! Wahoo!!!

Congratulations to all MYC members who were involved, it was great to see so many!

Congratulations to MYC team "Runamuk" steered by Jon Phillips, on winning the State Championships in the S80 class, a stellar performance! 

​Well done also to Buccaneer steered by Scott Colquhoun.

Col was a relatively late starter to sailing at around 40 years of age when he and the whole family joined the Mornington Yacht Club.  Col, his wife Joy and children Roger and Jan developed a passion for the sport and for most weekends every sailing season, they would all take part in the various club races.
 
Col fitted out a “Daydream” class hull himself and was a keen competitor as skipper of “Siesta” which was first sailed in 1964 and became a very active keel boat competitor over a period more than 12 years.   He particularly loved the tension and competition of the races and was always thrilled when his boat won.  


​
He won the overnight race in 1968, the Navigators trophy in 1971/72, the Easter Night Race in 1975, the Mornington to Queenscliff race in 1976, a further Long Distance Race in 1978, and the Easter Night Race again in 1980.
Col was a great clubman and always more than happy to take friends and family recreational sailing out on the bay and occasionally for a spot of fishing.
 
When Col could no longer manage “Siesta” and sailing, he sold the boat and resumed his interest in golf and travelled extensively around Australia in a range of vehicles.  He joined little Frankston golf club where he loved the golf and social life at the club and actually bought new golf clubs at the age of 96, continuing to play until he was 98.
 
Col is greatly missed by his family and wide circle of friends.
