Martha Cove Chapter - About Us
Martha Cove - A Chapter of MYC
The Martha Cove Yacht Squadron joined with the Mornington Yacht Club (MYC) in 2025 and is now known as the Martha Cove Chapter or MCC for short.
The Martha Cove Chapter is a local recreational power boat and yachting group, boating from the waters of Martha Cove on the Mornington Peninsula area of Port Phillip bay.

MCYS Joins Established Mornington Yacht Club
MCYS began in 2019 by a group of like-minded people who saw a need for a club to serve boat owners and residents in Martha Cove. The new club was enthusiastically embraced by its foundation members.
Since the club’s inception, we’ve developed a strong strategic plan, guiding our active general committee to achieve a lot for the Martha Cove area. |

In 2024 we entered discussions with the well established Mornington Yacht Club which resulted in MCYS joining with Mornington Yacht Club to provide great opportunities for boaters in the southern part of Port Phillip Bay.
While many of our members live on the Mornington Peninsula, there are lots of activities in the busier summer season for visitors to get involved in. Through weekly races, social gatherings, and amazing facilities, there’s something for everyone. We seek to connect, inspire, and foster community in the broader Martha Cove area through our shared love of boating. We’re here to build capabilities and inspire confidence on the water whilst bringing people together. |
World Class Safe Harbour at Martha Cove
Martha Cove is rated as a world class safe harbour. This makes it the ideal place for your boat to find a home, providing a year round fully protected harbour.
Martha Cove Chapter Power Division
Our power boat division is for every member. Whatever sized boat you own or level of experience in power boating, you’ll be made to feel welcome.
We cover trailer launched boats from Martha Cove, nearby boat ramps, power boats stored in the drystacker at the boatyard, or private wet berths in the Martha Cove Marina. |
The Power Boat Committee organises many fun on-water events regularly throughout the year, including nav rallies, day cruises, and overnight cruises.
Small, Medium & Large Power Boats
Martha Cove Chapter Sailing Division
The summer sailing season at MYC extends from October to May and a winter race series is held for some classes. Races are held on Saturdays, Sunday mornings and Thursday evenings during the daylight saving period.
During the Club season which runs from October to May, MYC holds racing on Saturdays, Sunday mornings, Tuesday evenings as well as Thursday evenings during the daylight saving period. Most racing is mixed fleets and there is a well structured Cruising Division. |
MYC has hosted many State, National and World Championship events and was host to the 1999 World Sailing Championship for Europe Class dinghies. A very high profile event indeed as an Olympic qualifying event.
In 2014 MYC hosted the largest single class Championship ever held in the Southern Hemisphere. The Optimist regatta saw over 300 competitors racing at MYC. The on water and off water requirements were massive - and was all lead and managed by MYC volunteers.
A major recurring event for MYC is its Schnapper Point Regatta held in February each year. This event caters for visitors with all classes of Off the Beach boats as well as providing interesting displays and activities for visitors onshore.
