With breath-taking views overlooking historical Schnapper Point Harbour and beautiful Port Phillip Bay the Mornington Yacht Club provides an enticing beachside location for your next celebration or business function.
Our newly renovated function room caters for all types of events be it a small intimate social gathering or large celebrations with music and dancing. The floor to ceiling glass doors open up and take you outside to the large wooden entertainment deck where guests can relax with a drink and enjoy the moonlight and romantic water views.
We can host between 30 to 180 guests and our experienced hospitality team are trained to take the stress away and help you organise a function to remember.

Function Room Details

AVAILABILITY: Monday to Sunday (7 days)
EXCLUSIONS: During sailing season the function room is unavailable on Thursday evenings and weekend daytime (October-April)
CAPACITY: 180 guests standing (cocktail style) or 100 guests seated
WINTER RATE: minimum charge of $230.00 for up to 50 guests, with an additional (May-September) charge of $4.65 pp thereafter.
SUMMER RATE: minimum charge of $275.00 for up to 50 guests, with an (October-April) additional charge of $4.65pp thereafter.
A $50.00 discount applies to Sunday & mid week bookings (Monday-Thursday)
DEPOSIT: due within 10 days of original booking - $100
MUSIC: Band or DJ can be organised
DATA PROJECTOR: $100.00 per function (includes Microphone)
MICROPHONE ONLY: No charge
Member Terms and Conditions for hire of Clubhouse
Members may hire the “The Moorings @ MYC” room for functions at a special discounted rate for themselves or immediate family only.
Immediate family being: Father/Mother/Son/Daughter/Brother/Sister.
Hiring of this room is subject to availability and can be arranged with the MYC Office by completing and returning the application and confirmation to hire form along with a deposit of $100.00.
The MYC Members' Lounge and bar is for use by members and must be available to all members at all times; therefore it is not available for use by persons attending private functions.
Meetings/ Conferences/ Presentations ETC
$160.00 for up to 20 people, then an additional $6.50 per person thereafter.

Confirmations and Payments
Bookings must be confirmed in writing on the Application to Hire form within 10 days of the original booking date, at which time a deposit of $100.00 must be lodged with the balance of room hire to be paid in full at least one calendar month prior to the function.
Note: In the absence of a deposit and signed terms and conditions, management reserves the right to release the booking and to allocate the function room to another customer.
In the event of cancellation, the hire fee will be refunded in full provided notice of cancellation is received at least 1 month prior to the function date.
Note: A charge may apply for cancellations less than 1 month.
BOND
Any Member wishing to hold a 21st Birthday Party will be required to pay a bond of $1,500 no later than 14 days prior to your reservation. In addition security guards will be hired by MYC for the duration of the function at a cost to the member of $50 per hour per security guard. At minimum two security guards will be employed regardless of the function size.
For other functions a member is required to pay a $500 bond/credit card details and the requirement for a security guard will be at the discretion of the MYC Manager.
If the bond applies, it will be fully refunded providing no damage has occurred or other expenses have been incurred e.g additional cleaning, by the Mornington Yacht Club. In case of damage, Mornington Yacht Club reserves the right to obtain an independent quotation to repair any damage. Should this quotation be over and above the balance of the bond amount, the member will be liable to pay the outstanding amount within 7 days.
Responsibility
A member hiring the clubhouse for a function is responsible for the conduct of the guests present and must be in attendance for the duration of the function.
Member’s have a duty of care which includes but is not limited to:
- Ensuring that boats and equipment in the yard are not damaged or interfered with;
- Ensuring that no undue noise is made so as to cause a nuisance or disturb the peace;
- Ensuring that guests do not behave objectionably. Abuse or harassment of any staff employed by MYC or The Rocks is not acceptable;
- Ensuring the premises are not used for any illegal purpose;
- On becoming aware of any damage, the Hirer will notify the MYC Office by 9am the next day.
Indemnities
By signing the attached Application and Confirmation form, the Member will indemnify:
- MYC and its members for any loss or damage caused by failure to ensure that care is taken to avoid damaging MYC or member’s property by the Hirer or anyone on the premises with the consent of the Hirer.
- MYC against all liability in respect of injury or damage to any third person or third party property arising from any conduct, act or omission by the Hirer, or the Hirer’s servants, agents and/or invitees.
Catering
Members are encouraged to use The Rocks Restaurant as the caterer - please contact Kirstine on: 5973 5599 or functions@therocksmornington.com.au
Alternatively members may use the MYC kitchen for self-catering or can employ a caterer of their choice who may use the facilities. If self catering you will need to supply your own cutlery, crockery, napkins, glasses etc & leave the room and kitchen area as you find it.
Tablecloths can be hired from the Rocks at $8.50 per tablecloth. This covers the cleaning cost.
Alcohol
Mornington Yacht Club is a Licensed Premises with the license being in the name of The Rocks restaurant. All alcohol consumed on the premises, this includes all areas inside the perimeter fence, must be purchased from The Rocks. No other alcohol shall be brought onto the premises and consumed.
For all functions where alcohol is being served the Rocks staff will set up a bar in the function room at an additional cost of $150.00 which includes 1 bar staff member per 50 people.
Alternatively waiter service can be arranged, cost to be confirmed with the Rocks.
The Rocks has the right to refuse to serve alcohol to an individual or to close the bar at its discretion
Decorations
Decorations must not be affixed to walls or ceiling panels. The cost of any damage caused by the fixing of decorations will be deducted from the bond. Hirer’s are requested to refrain from using candles as wax has proven difficult and expensive to remove, particularly from carpets. Again wax removal would result in a bond deduction. No confetti or tiny table scatters permitted as may be charged extra for additional cleaning required,
Cleaning
MYC has a cleaning contract that provides for normal everyday cleaning of the function room. A cleaning charge of $50.00 applies per function as the discretion of the club manager.
At minimum Members should:
- Remove all rubbish including bottles, cans etc.
- Wash dishes, cutlery, cooking utensils etc and put aforementioned away;
- Clean kitchen benchtops, stove (if used), etc.;
- Clean BBQ if used;
- Wash, dry and return tea towels if used.
