I sailed against Bill in Flying Fifteens in the mid 60's then with him in the early 70's and to his credit his attitude never changed.
Together with Bruce Gooley and Peter Carroll we made up the crew on his boat "Nina" a Swanson 7 pictured below and later on 'Hotspur: a Swan 36. It was on "Hotspur" under the tutelage of Ken "KB" Bilham we did the first of many Bass Strait Crossings.
I had many fun times with Bill and his family and apart from hos occasional bouts of "Grumpiness" he was a genuine and very generous friend.
To his wife Judy pictured on photos below, Emily and Sophie and their respective families we send our sincere condolences.
Bill was 83.
